One of the most popular, and definitely the most beautiful visitor at
the feeder. Found throughout the eastern United States and from Nebraska
into Mexico. It does best in thick, shrubby growth, but is very adaptable
and can be found in woodlands, brushy swamps and gardens. This bird eats
some insects but prefers seeds, such as sunflower, millet, milo and safflower.
Fruits and nuts are a treat.

A member of the Crow Family; a colorful backyard bird, very intelligent,
powerfully and annoyingly noisy. Found throughout the eastern half of the
United States and the Great Plains. In most areas, these birds are permanent
residents. They eat just about anything, but prefer acorns, peanut pieces

Rich wine or raspberry red in color, Its beautiful songs in the springtime
will delight you. Found in most of the lower 48 states. Very common to
New Mexico, Arizona and west Texas. Quite adaptable to forest habitats,

Sure to capture your attention, sometimes called the wild canary. Delightful
at the feeder, bouncy in flight, and a pleasure to listen to when in song.
Extremely common in the lower 48 states. Adapts well to meadows, farmland,

Small but fearless in the presence of people. Can be seen at feeders
from Minnesota to Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee. Prefers farmsteads

Stocky build, noisy and amazingly rich in color. A large member of the
finch family and rather piggish at the feeder. Commonly found in the Pacific
Northwest, and the Rocky Mountains into Mexico and at the Minnesota/Iowa
border. Will eat sunflower, peanuts and safflower seeds from a large feeder
or tray.

More commonly known to feed from the ground. Its range extends across
northern Minnesota to the Atlantic Ocean. Migrates to the southern states
and northern Mexico, but not common to southern Florida. One of the most
common winter birds under the feeder. Will eat insects, but fond of thistle

Famous for its upside-down pose. Found in the eastern United States,
across the Great Plains and in the Rocky Mountains. It usually inhabits

A tiny brown bird that adds variety to your feeder. Found throughout
much of northern Minnesota, but can be noted in most of North America.
Likes coniferous forests, but can be discovered in groves or plantations

Sometimes called the red finch, but not to be mistaken for the purple
finch. Color can range from orange to fire-engine red. Appearance in the
Midwest is most common, but after being captured and turned loose in the
East, the species has adapted well in the New York area, as well as in
most of the eastern United States. Also found in midwestern states from
Minnesota to Mississippi. At the feeder it will eat sunflower, millet,
thistle and peanuts. It also enjoys berries.

Its color makes this bird easy to confuse with other birds. It stays
with its kind as a family throughout the winter. A permanent resident of
Texas, it has expanded into Minnesota. Its range extends east to Maine
and southeast to Florida. This bird can be found in swampy or moist wooded
areas and in shade trees. A frequent visitor at feeders and easy to attract
if within the species range. Prefers sunflower and safflower seeds, but
will also eat insects.

Its name describes its cooing calls. A regular resident from spring
until fall. Common throughout the United States, although most migrate
south. Can be found most anywhere from farm country to inner-city parks.

Remarkably adaptable to most any climate. Don't let the small size fool
you; this bird is known to aggressively attack songbirds, so it is not
advisable to feed both types from your feeder. Widely spread throughout
North America. Can be found in farm country, where livestock is associated.

A faithful visitor to winter feeders. Most commonly noticed in the fall
